Building Futures strengthens and supports school-based career guidance. The project provides enhanced training for teachers of lower and upper secondary school, based on StartNet's research on future perspectives of the labour market, assessment of provided career counselling, and it introduces coordinating teams on a regional level.
The training reaches teachers of 50 schools in Apulia and Basilicata. It has started in November 2018, includes 30 hours of seminar and workshops, and will take place in Bari, Lecce and Potenza. Topic covered are:
- individual career counselling and insight into the world of work
- career education, progression routes and portfolios
- motivational training and entrepreneurship education
- local and employment services such as career management skills; career management skills (writing CVs, job interview)
Focus Groups with students and surveys in participating schools will enable an assessment of career education from young people's perspectives. As a next step, the project will establish a network of teams specialised in orientation and career guidance in schools.
